Teal Blake is a Western artist, painting in watercolor and oils. Growing up in Montana surrounded by ranching country, looking at C. M. Russell paintings and reading Will James books, it was hard not to pick up a pencil and start capturing his own visions of cowboys and the American West. During high school in Idaho, he discovered his aptitude for bull riding and rodeo, and he pursued that passion for years, eventually competing on the professional circuit. He also competed in heeling and team roping with the American Quarter Horse Association.

He has been pursuing art full-time since 2003. In 2009 he won Best of Show and took first place in watercolors at the prestigious 34th Annual Phippen Western Art Show. In 2014 he was inducted into the Cowboy Artists of America. Inspired by other CAA artists, he now works in oil as well as watercolor. He has also created ledger paintings on old Western printed documents, recalling the illustrated letters Charlie Russell sent to friends.
