48th Annual National Golden Spur Award Honors

Oct 10, 2026 - 6pm

The National Golden Spur Award and the Ranching Heritage Association Working Cowboy Award are the most prestigious awards given by the ranching and livestock industries. Annually, the Western community comes together to recognize the inspiring honorees of these accolades through the National Golden Spur Award Honors.

Established in 1978, the National Golden Spur Award award has been conferred annually upon iconic industry leaders whose unparalleled devotion to land and livestock earned them notable respect and admiration by their peers. The award also highlights the humanistic, scientific and technological contributions of the livestock and ranching industries to society. It is sponsored by six livestock and ranching organizations: American Quarter Horse Association, National Cattleman’s Beef Association, Ranching Heritage Association, Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Texas Farm Bureau, and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

The 2026 National Golden Spur Award goes to Terry Stuart Forst of Waurika, Oklahoma. She manages Stuart Ranch, Oklahoma’s oldest ranch under continuous family ownership. She was the first woman elected president of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and the first woman named Oklahoma Cattleman of the Year. She is also an inductee of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Agriculture Hall of Fame and the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.

Kyle Best will receive the 8th RHA Working Cowboy Award-West, and Arlon Baize will receive the 8th RHA Working Cowboy Award-East.

Andy Hedges and Maggie Rose Hedges will perform, with Justin McKee as the emcee, and Bob Welch and Ross Hecox as interviewers.
