Southwest Cowboy Poetry Association Scholarship Fundraiser
The Southwest Cowboy Poetry Association (SWCPA) is having its Second Annual Ivan Cates Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, October 10th 2026, at the Western Cowpunchers Association, 10401 N US Highway 287, Amarillo, Texas. It will feature Joel Alden White as the musical headliner, together with several other local musicians and poets.
Event also includes a silent auction, food trucks, a bake sale, and pass the boot.
The Southwest Cowboy Poetry Association's mission is to preserve and celebrate the rich tradition of cowboy poetry and music while investing in the future of young people who share a passion for Western heritage, literature, and the arts. They are raising funds to provide scholarships for deserving students pursuing higher education in fields that honor and sustain western culture. In the past, several scholarships have been awarded to students who chose to attend trade schools, such as horseshoeing and welding training.
