Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering

Feb 18-20, 2027

Each year, on the third Thursday-Saturday of February, cowboys, ranchers, and interested others gather in Alpine, Texas (82 miles from Big Bend National Park) to hear live music and spoken word poetry originating from the lives of working people -- those who interact with livestock, dirt, and grass to produce food. There is talk of horses and dogs, solitude and love, friendship and loss. There are funny stories and sad ones; guitars, banjos, fiddles, mandolins, harmonicas, and bones; and a lot of friendly faces, happy to see each other again after a year of work, either in agriculture or an urban setting.

The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering includes a number of free sessions as well as paid afternoon & evening shows. Most shows include both music and poetry. Some musicians are solo singer/songwriters, while others perform as duos, trios, or bands. Members get early access to tickets, and help support the non-profit event.
